Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites function properly, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used.

This Cookie Policy explains how Victuo uses cookies and similar technologies across our marketing website (victuo.com) and our application (app.victuo.com). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which sets out how we process personal data more generally.

2. Categories of cookies we use

We group cookies into the following categories, which match the options presented in our consent banner.

By default, the Victuo application uses only the cookies and storage mechanisms that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and make the app work. If you explicitly enable Product analytics in the application settings, the web app may also use PostHog cookies or equivalent browser storage for optional analytics. The categories below that rely on consent therefore apply to our marketing website and, for opted-in users, to the application's product analytics.

Strictly necessary (always active)

These cookies are essential for the website and application to function and cannot be disabled. They are used to keep you signed in to your account and to maintain your session while you use the Service.

Analytics (optional)

Our marketing site may use an analytics service to help us understand how visitors use the site. Separately, if you explicitly enable Product analytics in the Victuo application settings, the web app may use PostHog cookies or equivalent browser storage to help us understand feature usage and key planning flows such as plan generation, regeneration, and meal swaps.

If you decline, no optional analytics cookies are stored on your device for that surface. If you accept, we apply privacy-preserving settings and do not use these analytics technologies for advertising or cross-site marketing profiling. We also do not enable session replay or screen recording in the Victuo application as part of this analytics rollout.

Marketing (reserved)

This category is currently unused. If we introduce advertising or tracking technologies in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent again before any such cookies are set.

3. How we record your consent

When you make a choice in the cookie banner, we keep a record of that choice so that we can demonstrate compliance with applicable laws. We do not store your raw IP address, and consent records are not linked to your account.

Consent records are held securely in a database hosted in the European Union and retained for up to 24 months. This retention period is the legal basis for being able to prove that your consent was validly obtained. You may request deletion of a consent record at any time, subject to that legitimate interest.

4. Cookies we do not use

We do not currently use advertising or retargeting cookies, social media tracking cookies, or cross-site tracking technologies.

If that changes, we will update this policy and request consent again before setting any such cookies.

5. Local storage

In addition to cookies, we use your browser's local storage - a separate mechanism from cookies - to remember your consent preferences and, within the Victuo application, to store your trip drafts, your interface preferences, and data queued for sync when you are offline.

If you opt in to Product analytics in the Victuo application, PostHog may also use browser storage or cookies to remember analytics state, keep an opted-in identifier stable, and associate your manual analytics events over time.

Local storage remains on your device and is not used for tracking or profiling.

6. Withdrawing or changing consent

You can change your cookie preferences at any time.

Reopen the consent banner. A "Manage cookies" link is available in the footer of our website and on this policy page. Selecting it will reopen the consent banner with your current settings for victuo.com.

For optional Product analytics in app.victuo.com, sign in to the application and use the Product analytics toggle in Settings. Turning that toggle off stops future PostHog analytics capture from the application.

Clear your browser storage. Alternatively, you can clear cookies and local storage for victuo.com or app.victuo.com in your browser settings. This will reset locally stored preferences and identifiers for that surface and you may be asked to make a fresh choice on your next visit.

7. Managing cookies in your browser

Most browsers allow you to view and delete cookies, block cookies from specific sites, or block all cookies entirely. Blocking all cookies may affect how our services work, including your ability to stay signed in.

Refer to your browser's help documentation for specific instructions.

8. Changes to this Policy

If we introduce new cookies or tracking technologies, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent again. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version.
